Tour de Brisbane organisers over the weekend have announced a UCI Criterium for Saturday 4 April, the ‘Buzz at Muzz presented by Splatt Lawyers’.
Held at Murrarie Recreation Reserve, the Buzz at Muzz presented by Splatt Lawyers program will start with the UCI, followed by a number of graded races, a Junior racing program and finishing with the National Road Series.
Race Director Mike Crawley said his team were proud to work with the Balmoral Cycling Club in bringing an international calibre event to their local regular program.
‘We are excited to again welcome the Buzz at Muzz to our Tour de Brisbane program’, says Crawley.
‘The inaugural Buzz at Muzz last year was a great success, welcoming over 400 riders to Murrarie.’
‘The Buzz at Muzz is an integral part of our event weekend, as we work with the local Balmoral Cycling Club to give local Brisbane riders the opportunity to see how they measure up against the elite.’
Andy Moore, President of Balmoral Cycling Club said their club was preparing for a big day on 4 April.
‘Muzz is always the place to be on a Saturday morning, with Balmoral’s weekly program of graded criterium racing & junior development. We're thrilled to partner with the Tour de Brisbane again this year for the Buzz at Muzz. Last year‘s event was fantastic, and we are sure 2020 will be bigger and even more exciting for riders and spectators of all ages.’
Business Manager of Splatt Lawyers Diana Andersson said their involvement in the event aligns well with Splatt's broader commitment to cycling.
"As a Queensland, family owned business for over 30 years, Splatt Lawyers have been actively involved in promoting cycling in the local community on all levels. We’re delighted to now invite cyclists from all over the world to join us at Brisbane’s spiritual home of cycling for the iconic Buzz at Muzz.”
The Buzz at Muzz presented by Splatt Lawyers will be run in support of The Common Good, a local initiative of the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation.
‘We are delighted to be the Official Charity Partner of this year's Tour de Brisbane. All donations raised through the event will support lifesaving medical research into organ transplant’, CEO of the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation Michael Hornby said.
The Tour de Brisbane is the feature event of a four-week Brisbane Cycling Festival, with professional, amateur and mass participation events across the city between 12 March - 5 April.
The event is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland, and Brisbane City Council through Brisbane Marketing.
