Tour de Brisbane FREE 9 Week Training Programs have landed!
Forget about 9 week weight loss challenges, here’s a collection of 9 Week Training Programs that will enable you to be part of Brisbane’s own cycling extravaganza.
There’s something for everyone when the Brisbane Cycling Festival rolls into Brisbane from March 12 - April 5.
The festival includes the Tour de Brisbane, an official UCI Gran Fondo World Series event that encourages riders of all ages and levels to participate.
Riders can cycle courses including 9km TREK Free Community Ride, 30km, 60km, and 120km Gran Fondo, with the scenic route taking participants on a round trip starting and finishing at South Bank.
The training plan will get participants ready for the start line of any of the courses that make up Tour de Brisbane - including the 30 km Piccolo, 60 km Medio and the 120km Gran Fondo. We encourage all those who are interested in completing Tour de Brisbane to use the 9 Week Training Programs to scaffold their cycling success.
The 9 Week Training Programs have been designed by 2018 Commonwealth Games Cyclist and local Cycling Coach, Hayley Jones, to enable more people to take part in the Brisbane Cycling Festival’s Tour de Brisbane.
Cycling Queensland CEO Sean Muir recognises the efforts of Jones in providing coaching expertise and experience in the creation of the 9 Week Training Programs.
Cycling Queensland CEO Sean Muir encourages everyone to challenge themselves and improve their jointly through bike riding with assistance from the Training Programs.
“The health and wellbeing benefits of riding a bike are second to none. These training programs are all about providing anyone and everyone with the skills and confidence to ride their bike, and set a target to take part in the Tour de Brisbane. We hope that the Training Programs will lower barriers and provide incentive for people wanting to complete the 30km, 60km, or 120km rides throughout Brisbane city” said Muir.
The Brisbane Cycling Festival invites everyone to participate in the 9 Week Training Program, and work towards completing the 30km, 60km, or 120km route in the Tour de Brisbane Event.
