After the huge success of the Brisbane Cycling Festival in 2019, there has been excitement and hype building towards this year’s event. However, following the recent advice in regards to COVID-19 virus and mass gatherings, we have had to make a difficult decision in regards to the continuation of the festival. This decision is based on the advice received from the Federal Government, and with the health and well being of the cycling community in mind.
Track National Championships
Cycling Australia released a statement at the end of last week announcing that the Junior Track National Championships that were due to start later this week are cancelled, and the Elite Track National Championships are postponed.
Six Day Series Final
Six Day Brisbane has announced that it will not take place as scheduled from 3 – 5 April 2020. All ticket holders will receive a refund and will be contacted by the relevant ticketing outlet where the tickets were purchased.
Tour De Brisbane
Tour de Brisbane is on hold as they work to confirm a postponement date with State Government, Local Government, Cycling Australia, the UCI, Oceania Cycling Confederation and the Brisbane Cycling Festival.
The Brisbane Cycling Festival would also like to confirm that the festival supporting events such as the Gala Luncheon, Festival Village and Sunday Sessions will be postponed until further notice.
